๐ Before You Begin
OnDataSuite supports two methods for loading College Board PSAT 8/9 assessment data:
- OnSync (Recommended) automatically retrieves available Electronic Score Report (ESR) files from College Board.
- Manual Upload allows you to upload the original College Board PSAT 8/9 Electronic Score Report (ESR) CSV file.
If using the manual upload option:
- Download the original PSAT 8/9 Electronic Score Report (ESR) from College Board.
- Use the CSV (.csv) version of the file.
- Do not modify the file before uploading.
- Ensure the filename contains no spaces.
- Do not upload a compressed (.zip) file.
- Select the correct reporting year during the upload process.
โญ Automatic Upload with OnSync (Recommended)
OnSync is the preferred method for loading College Board assessment files.
Once your College Board connection has been configured:
- OnDataSuite checks nightly for newly available files.
- Available PSAT 8/9 Electronic Score Report (ESR) files are downloaded automatically.
- No manual upload is required.
โ ๏ธ Important: Student scores may appear in the College Board reporting portal before the Electronic Score Report (ESR) is available for download. OnSync cannot retrieve files until College Board releases the ESR.
The College Board account used with OnSync must have:
- District-level administrative access.
- Permission to download Electronic Score Report (ESR) files.
Campus-level access is not sufficient.
โฌ๏ธ Manual Upload into OnDataSuite
- Log in to OnDataSuite.
- Navigate to File Center โ College Board โ PSAT 8/9.
- Select the appropriate Reporting Year.
- Click Click to upload PSAT 8/9 files.
- Browse to and select the original College Board PSAT 8/9 ESR CSV file.
- Click Upload.
- Wait for the upload and processing to complete.
โ๏ธ Validation & Processing
During processing, OnDataSuite validates:
- The file is a valid College Board PSAT 8/9 Electronic Score Report (ESR).
- The file is in the expected CSV format.
- Student assessment records can be processed successfully.
After processing, review:
Assessment โ PSAT 8/9 โ Files Loaded by Year
Verify:
- Reporting Year
- Number of records loaded
- Student drill-down (when available)
If records do not appear, confirm that the correct reporting year was selected before uploading again.

After a successful upload, PSAT 8/9 assessment data is available throughout OnDataSuite, including:
- PSAT 8/9 Ad-Hoc Reports
- Student Profile assessment pages
- Other reports and dashboards that utilize PSAT 8/9 assessment data
Availability depends on the user’s security permissions.

Manual Upload Issues
- Verify you selected a PSAT 8/9 Electronic Score Report (ESR) file.
- Use the CSV version of the file, not the fixed-width TXT version.
- Ensure the file is not compressed (.zip).
- Do not open and re-save the file using spreadsheet software.
- Confirm the correct reporting year was selected.
OnSync Issues
If files are not being retrieved automatically, verify:
- The OnSync connection status is OK.
- College Board credentials are still valid.
- The connected account has district-level download permissions.
- College Board has released the Electronic Score Report (ESR).
